February 14, 2025- In a unique celebration of love and environmental responsibility, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Itogon actively participated in the Tree Hugging Campaign and Clean-Up Drive at Mt. Ulap, led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Cordillera Administrative Region (DENR-CAR) under the leadership of OIC Regional Director Jean C. Borromeo.
In line with the implementation of the Action Plan for the Bued River System Water Quality Management Area (BuRS WQMA), the event promoted environmental conservation, responsible waste management, and climate action advocacy. The Plogging and Hiking Activity, combined physical fitness with environmental protection as participants collected improperly disposed waste while trekking the scenic trails of Mt. Ulap.
One of the highlights of the event was the Tree Hugging Campaign, an initiative aimed at fostering a deeper appreciation for the region’s rich forest ecosystems. Participants embraced the trees, symbolizing their commitment to the protection and preservation of nature. Through this campaign, the LGU of Itogon reinforced its dedication to sustainable environmental practices and the conservation of natural resources.
The event concluded with a call for continuous engagement in sustainable practices, urging the public to actively participate in conservation efforts beyond Valentine’s Day.
