The municipal government of Itogon continues to prioritize child protection and women’s rights by leading the 2nd quarter joint meeting of several key councils and committees. The Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC), the Municipal Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (MCAT-VAWC), and the Municipal Inter-Agency Task Force on Child-Friendly Local Governance (CFLGA) convened at the Itogon Training Center on June 20, 2023.
The meeting was presided over by Mayor Bernard S. Waclin, with Councilor Norberto Pacio serving as the chairman of the social services committee. Representatives from various government agencies, law enforcement agencies, and barangay local government units were also in attendance.
During the meeting, members of the different councils and committees shared comprehensive reports on the state of youth in the municipality, focusing on survival, development, protection, and participation. This collaborative effort aimed to assess the existing situation and devise effective strategies to address the challenges faced by children and women in Itogon.
Mayor Waclin emphasized the importance of collective action and the role of each participating entity in promoting the welfare and well-being of vulnerable groups. He expressed his gratitude for the commitment and dedication of all the stakeholders present, recognizing their shared responsibility in ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for the youth and women of Itogon.
