The newly rebuilt Bua Development Center, also known as the Bua Day Care Center, was officially inaugurated on August 9. The center, which was constructed for P3.06 million, replaces the previous facility that was destroyed by fire on September 17, 2023.
In the aftermath of the fire, Mayor Bernard S. Waclin took immediate action to secure the necessary funding to rebuild the daycare center. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Cordillera, recognizing the urgent need, swiftly allocated P1.5 million to cover labor costs. The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Itogon also appropriated P1.5 million for the construction materials.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by DOLE CAR Regional Director Nathaniel V. Lacambra, Mayor Bernard S. Waclin, Tuding Barangay Captain Martin D. Chavez Jr., as well as daycare teachers, students, and their parents.
In addition to the inauguration, the Rotary Club of Baguio extended its support to the children and their families through its ‘Rock Baby Rock – Barangay Support Program.’ The program provided medicines and school supplies to the students.
