This year’s Benguet Roadside Beautification Program emphasized the importance of clean-up drives in combating diseases like dengue.
During the program’s awarding ceremony on June 27, 2024, Governor Melchor D. Diclas announced that the Roadside Beautification Program has been rescheduled to the first semester of the year, coinciding with the rainy season and peak tourist season. This timing aims to promote cleanliness and enhance tourism activities.
Itogon’s entry ranked 6th among the 12 participating municipalities, earning a P40,000 cash prize. The award was received by Councilor Lison Latawan, chairperson of the environment committee, along with Councilor Albino Diego, Tourism Operations Officer Ferdinand Sapalong, Secretary to the Mayor Jemima Waclin, Treasury Office representative Michael Hermosado, and Public Information Officer designate Victorio Palangdan Jr.
The Roadside Beautification Program, an annual initiative of the Provincial Tourism Office led by Eleazar Carias, encourages each Benguet town to clean and beautify its roadsides to promote cleanliness and tourism.
