The Municipality of Itogon kicks off this year’s Palarong Bayan on March 22 at the Fianza Memorial Gymnasium. Delegates from the nine barangays of Itogon, along with municipal and barangay local government officials, gather for the opening ceremonies.
Municipal Councilor Hon. Clint Galutan opens the event, officially declaring the Palarong Bayan underway. Pambayang Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan President, Hon. Judbert Alicnas, leads the athletes in taking the oath of sportsmanship, reinforcing the event’s core values of respect and fairness.




Municipal Councilor Hon. Jodea Brendalyn Acay-Camuyot then addresses the participants, sharing words of encouragement and urging the young athletes to demonstrate dedication and perseverance throughout the competition.
Next, Municipal Vice Mayor Hon. Dante Alain Xavier Godio presents the guidelines for this year’s Palarong Bayan. He emphasizes the importance of adhering to the rules, while reminding the athletes of the event’s primary goal: to promote sportsmanship, camaraderie, and unity.


After the ceremonial toss by Vice Mayor Godio, basketball games immediately follow, kicking off the first round of competition. Other matches for basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, and chess will take place over the following weekends, adding excitement and variety to the games.
The Palarong Bayan is an annual event held in accordance with Ordinance No. 28, S. 2000, which governs sports competitions in the municipality. The ordinance has undergone several revisions, with the most recent update, Ordinance No. 75, S. 2021, passed in December 2021, to improve the organization and execution of the games.
This year’s Palarong Bayan runs for two months, with the closing ceremonies scheduled for May 31, 2025, marking the conclusion of an exciting season of sportsmanship and community spirit.
