The Municipal Government of Itogon received multiple accolades during the PANSIGSHAN 2024: Benguet Local Governance Awards, held by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Benguet, on October 17, 2024, in Baguio City.
This year’s theme, “Promoting Accountability and Nurturing Sustainable Initiatives for Good Governance, Strengthening Harmonious and Accountable Networks (PANSIGSHAN),” emphasized the importance of accountability and collaboration in local governance. The DILG Benguet annually recognizes top-performing municipal and barangay local government units across the province.
Itogon was awarded first place for the Best-Performing Peace and Order Council and received a cash prize of ₱30,000.
The municipality also secured first place in the Best Performing Anti-Drug Abuse Council category, with a cash prize of ₱28,000, sharing this honor with the municipalities of Buguias, Kibungan, La Trinidad, and Tublay.
In addition, Itogon was recognized for its Best Performing Councils for the Protection of Children and Violence Against Women and Children.
Barangay Tuding, Itogon, earned 4th place in the Most Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Award (LTIA), with a cash prize of ₱20,000, while Barangay Ampucao and Tuding received the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB), along with a cash prize of ₱10,000.
Seven barangays in Itogon were honored under the Kalinga at Inisyatiba Para sa Malinis na Bayan (KALINISAN) sa Bagong Pilipinas program.
The Barangay Road Clearing Operation (BARCO) award was bestowed on the barangays of Tinongdan and Virac. The Barangay at Kalinisan Day (BARKADA) award was granted to the barangays of Ucab, Tinongdan, Virac, Dalupirip, and Gumatdang, while the Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay (HAPAG) award went to the barangays of Tuding, Poblacion, and Tinongdan.
The awards were presented by Benguet Governor Dr. Melchor D. Diclas and DILG-Benguet Provincial Director Regina Elizabeth L. Mammag.
The awards were accepted by Mayor Bernard S. Waclin, Vice Mayor Dante Alain Xavier Godio, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Julie C. Malig, Itogon Police Chief Major Mac Kenley Mayomis, Municipal Treasurer Irene F. Fernando, Tuding Barangay Captain Hon. Martin Chavez, Ampucao PB Hon. Freddie Altiga, Tinongdan Barangay Captain Hon. Edwin Atumpag, Poblacion Barangay Captain Hon. Flordeliza Depayso, Virac Barangay Captain Nestor Martillano Jr., Ucab Barangay Captain Hon. Tony Pesase, Loacan Barangay Captain Hon. Franklin Almoza, and Gumatdang Barangay Captain Hon. Edwin Golingab.
