Chairperson and CEO, Undersecretary Elpidio R. Jordan Jr., of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP), met with mayors and department heads of Cordillera local government units (LGUs) on June 7, 2024, at the Malasin Multi-purpose Hall in Ucab, Itogon.
The event was hosted by LGU Itogon, led by Mayor Bernard S. Waclin. Attendees included Sablan Mayor Alfredo B. Dacumos, Kapangan Mayor Manny E. Fermin, and Aguinaldo Ifugao Mayor Gaspar B. Chilagan Jr. Representatives from LGUs in Kabayan, Bokod, Bakun, Buguias, Tuba, Hungduan, Kiangan, Lamut, and Tinoc were also present.
Usec Jordan presented PCUP’s array of programs and services, which include livelihood assistance, educational assistance, housing assistance, project endorsements, and assistance for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
He emphasized the PCUP’s Livelihood Tourism Program, describing it as “our unique livelihood commission program that guarantees an income-generating method to support the lives of Filipino poor families while promoting the beauty and comfort of their municipality.”
“We all have one goal: to improve the lives of Filipino poor families. We are here to help; let us work together to provide the best assistance to the people,” said Usec Jordan.
Mayor Waclin expressed his gratitude to PCUP for their support and to all the LGUs for participating in the event.
During the event, PCUP distributed medicines to the LGUs. They also invited partners from the private sector, who presented their products and services to further enhance the services provided by the LGUs.
