During the Environment Month celebration on June 20-21, 2024, in Poblacion, Itogon, Benguet, Mayor Bernard S. Waclin and the Human Resources Office of LGU Itogon spearheaded the project “Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) Through Talent Development Practices for Regenerative Sustainability in the Workplace.”
Participated by LGU Itogon employees, the project included practical training in proper landscaping and a seminar on local ordinances promoting environment-friendly regulations.
Representatives from the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) of Baguio, including Erlinda Diwas, Floro Bastian, Villamor Zaparita, and Sandra Nabus Almag, conducted a landscaping demonstration. Their lecture covered vertical gardening and biophilic office design. CEPMO Baguio also created a landscape design within the Itogon Municipal Hall as part of their demonstration.
The seminar on environmental ordinances was led by the Sanggunian Bayan Office, headed by Vice Mayor Dante Alain Xavier D. Godio. Vice Mayor Godio discussed the “Revised Comprehensive Ecological Solid Waste Management Code of 2021 of the Municipality of Itogon,” an ordinance he sponsored. Councilor Atty. Jodea Brendalyn R. Acay-Camuyot gave a lecture on “The Plastic and Styrofoam Regulation Ordinance 2020 of the Municipality of Itogon,” which she also sponsored.
Eusebia T. Fianza, head of the Itogon Human Resources Management Office (HRMO), and Shalimar G. Sorallo, the GHRM project lead, stated that the ‘Green Training’ aims to enhance employees’ knowledge of sustainable resource use and to foster an environmental protection mindset among the workforce of LGU Itogon.
