A total of 1,200 seedlings, including 1,000 pine trees and 200 coffee plants, were planted in Besil, Gumatdang on June 21, 2024. This initiative was part of the Annual Tree Planting event organized by LGU Itogon, in observance of National Environment Month, celebrated every June.
With the theme “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience,” the tree-planting activity was spearheaded by Mayor Bernard S. Waclin through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office. The event saw active participation from various stakeholders, including LGU Itogon officials and employees, personnel from the Benguet Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), the Bureau of Fire Protection, the Philippine National Police, and the Rural Bank of Itogon (RBI).
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Cordillera (DENR-CAR) contributed 800 seedlings, while the Provincial LGU of Benguet provided 400 seedlings.
