Mayor Bernard S. Waclin participated in the “Paedeng Festival” alongside the barangay local government of Dalupirip led by Punong Barangay Paul Camantiles, Chairperson on Agriculture Councilor Norberto Pacio, and SN Aboitiz Power officers, in Lawiguen, Dalupirip, on May 4, 2024.
Since its establishment in 2012 through a municipal ordinance, the municipality has annually celebrated the Paedeng Festival.
The Paedeng, a native fish species abundant in the Agno River and various water systems in Itogon, is the focal point of the festival. Its purpose is to raise awareness about environmental issues such as indiscriminate mining, illegal fishing, and waste mismanagement, aiming to safeguard wildlife like the Paedeng.
According to the ordinance, the Paedeng Festival is held every March. This year’s festivities include showcasing a variety of dishes featuring Paedeng as the primary ingredient.
