Itogon Municipal Agriculture Office (MAGRO)announced today that LGU Itogon has been recognized for supporting organic agriculture. This recognition was conferred during the Regional Organic Agriculture Congress by the Department of Agriculture Cordillera, held on April 22-23, 2024, at the Benguet Sports Complex, Wangal, La Trinidad.
The municipal government of Itogon was presented with a plaque and certificate of recognition for becoming the 17th municipality in the Philippines to receive accreditation from the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS) as a Participatory Guarantee System – Organic Certifying Body (PGS-OCB). The award citation reads, “bringing honor and pride to the Cordillera Administrative Region.”
The PGS-OCB aims to support small organic farmers by streamlining certification processes and reducing certification expenses, facilitating easy and reliable access for farmers to organic certification.
