To enhance the quality of life for residents of Sitio Labilab, a ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) took place on March 22, 2024, at Labilab Elementary School. The agreement involved Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation, Inc. (CLFI), LGU Itogon, Barangay LGU Loacan, and residents of Sitio Labilab, Loacan.
CLFI Executive Director Jonathan Batangan highlighted Sitio Labilab as the inaugural beneficiary for the pilot of their community development program. This initiative aims to promote financial literacy, inclusion, and disaster resilience, particularly focusing on farming as the primary livelihood in Labilab.
“Naniniwala po ang CLFI na ang daan para sa pagtataguyod ng komunidad ay dapat ang mga mamamayan nito ay may pagkilala at pagtugon sa mga challenges ng panahon. Ang wastong pananalapi at pagkakaroon ng access sa financial services ay makakapagpaakyat ng antas ng buhay dito sa Sito Labilab,” stated Batangan.
The community development program is slated to span three years, with activities tailored to the specific needs of the residents.
Mayor Bernard S. Waclin extended gratitude to CLFI for selecting Labilab as the pioneer community recipient and encouraged active participation and cooperation from the residents.
In addition to the MOU signing, CLFI donated various information and communication technology (ICT) equipment to Itogon Alternative Learning System (ALS) teachers.
Among those present at the event were Loacan Barangay Captain Franklin Almoza, Sitio Labilab representative Andres Cuyan, Sangguniang Bayan Member Clint Galutan, Itogon DepEd District Supervisor Jonathan Sadey, Labilab Elementary School Principal Dante Romillo, CFLI PCR Department Head Rhodora Gella, and PJ Lhuillier Group of Companies Chief Administrative Officer Jo-ann Tacordia.
