The local government unit of Itogon, under the leadership of Mayor Bernard S. Waclin, took the initiative to plant 1,400 Benguet Pine seedlings today, June 16, 2023, as part of the Environment Month celebration.
The tree planting activity was conducted at Besil, Gumatdang, and saw the participation of municipal LGU officials, employees, and representatives from various local government agencies, including the BJMP, PNP, BFP, and Barangay Gumatdang Officials.
The LGU, through the Clean and Green committee, collaborated with several contributors to make this tree planting initiative possible. Mayor Waclin expressed his gratitude to the Baguio City Environment and Natural Resources Office, Philex, SN Aboitiz Power Benguet, ISRI, and Benguet Corporation for their support in providing the seedlings.
A total of 1,400 Benguet Pine and various fruit-bearing tree seedlings were planted during the event. This initiative aims to contribute to the reforestation efforts in the area and promote the preservation of the environment.
