September 24, 2026 — The Municipal Government of Itogon, led by Mayor Bernard S. Waclin, in partnership with the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) Cordillera, conducted a Security Awareness Seminar (SAS) at the Balingway Hall on Wednesday, September 23, to strengthen personnel’s awareness of security protocols and the proper handling of official documents and information.
The seminar was attended by representatives from various municipal government departments.
Anchored on Executive Order No. 608, or the “Establishing a National Security Clearance System for Government Personnel with Access to Classified Matters and for Other Purposes,” the activity covered measures for protecting sensitive and classified documents and information, as well as government facilities and installations.
Discussions focused on potential security risks, including the compromise of sensitive information, espionage, theft, and sabotage. Participants were also oriented on the precautions and proper procedures to observe when handling official documents, information, and other government resources.
As part of the activity, NICA also conducted a Security Survey and Inspection (SSI) within the municipal facility to assess its current security status and identify existing strengths and vulnerabilities. The assessment aims to determine appropriate protection measures and provide recommendations to further enhance the overall security of the facility.
Mayor Waclin expressed his gratitude to NICA Cordillera for conducting the seminar and providing the municipal employees with valuable information and insights on security awareness and the protection of government resources. // Capsula; Padcayan | GIP
