September 10, 2026 – The Municipal Government of Itogon, led by Mayor Bernard S. Waclin, together with the municipal officials and employees, was informed and encouraged to support its observance of World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) 2026 with a global official theme of “Changing the Narrative on Suicide” and a provincial theme of “Kalampagan para sa ligtas na kaisipan, boses, at ingay ng pag-asa: Isang Benguet na nagkakaisa”.
This observance was aimed to promote greater awareness, encourage open and compassionate conversations, reduce stigma surrounding suicide and mental health concerns, and strengthen collective efforts toward suicide prevention.
In support of this observance, the offices and employees joined with the social media advocacy wherein they wore yellow, symbolizing the light of a candle flame and representing hope, remembrance, and support for suicide prevention, as well as partake in taking photos ops in the photobooths provided by the Itogon Municipal Health Services Office (MHSO).
This activity of Local Government Unit (LGU) of Itogon shows the continuous promotion of mental health awareness, compassion, and collective care within the workplace. // Capsula, Padcayan; GIP
