[To better serve the public, the training equipped LGU Itogon employees with a deeper understanding of gender perspectives and biases to promote more respectful, inclusive, and responsive public service.]
September 21, 2026 — The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Itogon conducted a two-day Gender Sensitivity Training to strengthen the capacity of its employees in providing more inclusive, respectful, and responsive public service.
Held at the Itogon Training Center (ITC) in Bua, Tuding, the training conducted is part of the celebration of the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary. It was organized through the LGU’s Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System, headed by Cindy Lois L. Fernandez, and facilitated by resource person Ferdinand P. Gonzales, Ph.D. of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).
Anchored on the theme, “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing Para sa Bayan,” the two-day activity focused on GAD-related mandates and basic concepts, manifestations of gender biases, mechanisms and institutions that perpetuate gender stereotyping, and the importance of gender sensitivity in the workplace and in public service.
The training aimed to help employees better understand different gender perspectives and recognize how biases and stereotypes may affect the way services are delivered to the public. It also emphasized the importance of respect, inclusivity, and equal opportunities in creating a workplace that can provide fair and responsive services to everyone.
Through the initiative, the LGU Itogon continues to equip its employees with knowledge and awareness that can contribute to more compassionate, inclusive, and people-centered public service. // Capsula, Padcayan; GIP
