September 1, 2026 — The Local Government Unit of Itogon joins the nation in observing Philippine Councilors Week 2026, held from September 1 to 7, in recognition of the important role of local legislators in governance and community development.
Councilor Norberto I. Pacio said the observance is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 212, issued on July 23, 1993, which declared the first week of September of every year as Philippine Councilors Week. The proclamation recognizes city and municipal councilors as local legislators and policymakers who contribute to the development of their communities through their legislative work and participation in local governance.
The members of the Itogon Sangguniang Bayan also recited the Councilor’s Creed as part of the opening of the observance.
Pacio said several activities have been lined up for the celebration. On September 2 and 3, the councilors will conduct a tree-planting activity as part of their environmental initiatives.
On September 4, a legislative forum will be held, focusing on the welfare and concerns of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), with the Department of Migrant Workers serving as the resource speaker.
The observance will culminate on September 7 with a brief presentation of the councilors’ accomplishments, providing an overview of their legislative work and initiatives for their constituents.
