June 4, 2026 — The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Itogon, led by Mayor Bernard S. Waclin, through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) headed by Gerard S. Cornel, conducted an information drive along the municipality’s main roads earlier today.
Led by MENRO personnel, with support from LGU staff, the Itogon Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and MENRO BSU interns, ‘environment checkpoints’ were set up in Ucab, Virac, and Tinongdan.
Motorists and passengers were briefly stopped and provided with information cards and stickers on Republic Act No. 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act, which promotes proper waste segregation, disposal, and overall environmental protection.
This activity is part of Itogon’s month-long celebration of Environment Month this June, reinforcing the call for shared responsibility in protecting the environment.
