The Itogon Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) convened a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) on March 31, 2026, to finalize preparations for the Holy Week observance. The meeting was presided over by Municipal Mayor Bernard S. Waclin and
attended by uniformed personnel, municipal officials, department heads, barangay representatives, and private sector partners.
Mayor Waclin has activated the Municipal Emergency Operations Center (EOC) under Blue Alert Status from March 30 to April 5 to ensure heightened monitoring and prompt emergency response.
The council agreed to implement a total liquor ban from April 1 to 5. This is in accordance with Sanggunian Bayan Resolution No. 148, s. 2026, which prohibits the sale, serving, and distribution of alcoholic beverages throughout the municipality.
Swimming and other water activities are also prohibited along the Agno and Ambalanga Rivers, particularly in the barangays of Gumatdang, Poblacion, Tinongdan, and Dalupirip.
The Philippine National Police (PNP), led by Police Major Mac Kenley A. Mayomis, began deployment operations on March 29, 2026. Three Police Assistance Desks have been established to help maintain peace and order. Mayomis said police personnel continue to coordinate with barangay officials and assist visitors in identified tourist areas and churches across the municipality.
Meanwhile, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) conducted fire safety inspections in various establishments, established motorists’ assistance desks, and ensured emergency medical standby in key areas, including Level 1300 and along the Tuding road. Fire Marshal FINSP JULIUS T WANAWAN reported that 14 personnel are on duty, with an additional eight on-call.
Barangay local government units also presented their respective preparedness plans, which include the deployment of Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs) along major roads, establishment of first aid stations, continuous monitoring, and close coordination with response agencies.
Private sector partners, including SN Aboitiz, Benguet Corporation, ISRI, and Philex Mining Corporation, likewise pledged support by providing emergency services, equipment, and coordination assistance as needed.
These coordinated efforts aim to ensure a safe, orderly, and meaningful observance of Holy Week in Itogon, with all stakeholders working together to safeguard residents and visitors throughout the municipality.
