The Provincial Government of Benguet named LGU Itogon Best Performing Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) during the Benguet Local Governance Awards 2025, held on December 19, 2025, in La Trinidad, Benguet.
Mayor Bernard S. Waclin, Vice Mayor Dante Alain Xavier D. Godio, members of the Sanggunian Bayan, and Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Julie Malig presented the awards on Monday.
In the same awards, Barangay Tuding earned the 1st Runner-Up in the Best Performing Lupong Tagapamayapa (LTIA) under the First Class Municipality category.
LGU Itogon was also recognized for having a Highly Functional Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (LCAT-VAWC) and for being a provincial passer in the Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA).
Several barangays in Itogon were likewise honored for their performance:
* Barangay Dalupirip – Most Outstanding Barangay in Itogon
* Barangay Ucab – Best Performing Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) in Itogon
* Barangay Loacan – Best Performing Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC) in Itogon
The Benguet Local Governance Awards, led by Governor Dr. Melchor D. Diclas, is anchored on Provincial Ordinance No. 2024-341, which adopts the national assessment frameworks of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), including the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) and other performance audit tools.
The program aims to institutionalize excellence in local governance by recognizing LGUs that demonstrate strong leadership, high functionality, innovation, and effective service delivery across various governance mechanisms.
